Higgins, Robert John (Hon) (1934- )

Born January 13th, 1934, at Saint John, N.B. Of Irish ancestry. Son of John J. Higgins, and his wife, Helen McGuiness.

Educated at the Saint John Primary and Secondary Schools; at Saint Frances Xavier Univ., Antigonish, N.S.; and at the Univ. of N.B. Law School.

Located at Saint John, N.B. and engaged in the practice of his profession.  Member of the Saint John City Council, 1964-1967; Catholic Community Club; Holy Name Society; Knights of Columbus.

Married, May 13th, 1961, to Miss Rosemary C. Keenan, daughter of James Keenan, Parish of Rothesay, N.B. By this marriage there is a family of three sons and one daughter.

First elected to the House of Assembly of N.B., as one of the members for the new constituency of Saint John Centre, at the G.E. of October 23, 1967, and at present a member in the House.

On November 20th, 1967, he was sworn in a member of the Executive Council of N.B., and received the appointment of Minister of Economic Growth in the Adm. Of the Hon. Louis J. Robichaud (q.v.), which position he holds at the present time.
