HAWKINS, Alfred Howard (1906-1981)
Born, August 6th, 1906, at Pennfield Ridge, N.B. of English-Irish ancestry. Son of Arthur Beacher Hawkins, English, and his wife Charlotte G. Thompson, Irish.
Educated at the Pennfield Ridge Public School. Served with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War 1939-1945.
Located at Pennfield Ridge, Charlotte County, and engaged in business as a Merchant. Owner of an Electrical and Refrigerator Sales & Service. Served as a Trustee on the Eastern Charlotte Regional School Board, 1953-1960.
Married, February 22nd, 1942, to Miss Mildred Frances Stuart, daughter of Allan B. Stuart, Esq., Deer Island, N.S. By this marriage there was a family of three sons and one daughter.
First elected to the House of Assembly of N.B. as one of the members for Charlotte County, at the G.E. of June 27th, 1960, and sat that Legislature. Re-elected at the G.E. of April 22nd, 1963 and sat as member until the dissolution of the legislature in 1967. At the G.E. of October 23rd, 1967, he was defeated, and is at present out of active politics.
