William Gray was born c1770 in Greyabbey, Belfast, Ireland. (Greyabbey is in Co. Down, Belfast in Co. Antrim). He married, in Ireland, Ellen Ross, born c1780. The family came to St. Andrews, Charlotte County in 1819.
