CREAGHAN, William Lawrence Marven (1922 – 2008)
Born, May 30, 1922, at Newcastle, N.B. Son of John Adams Creaghan, Irish and his wife, Alice D. Marven, English.
Educated at the Public School; St. Francis Xavier Univ.; and Dalhousie Univ. Law School. Degreed of B.A., L.L.B., 1948. Admitted to Bar of N.B. 1948.
Served in Second World War as a Captain in the R.C.A.
Located at Moncton, N.B. and engaged in the practise of his profession as a Barrister. Partner of Creaghan & Creaghan. Director of Archibald St. Realty Co.; Grey Bus Line Ltd.; Alderman, City of Moncton, 1954 – 1956. Registrar of Probate, Westmorland co., 1952 – 1958. Member of Can. Legion; B.P.O.E.; and Atlantic Provinces Economic Council.
Married, Sept. 2, 1950, to Miss Theresa Ann, daughter of Ben LeBlanc, Esq., St. Joseph’s, N.B. Family of three children.
Unsuccessfully contested Westmorland Co. for the House of Commons at the G.E. of June 10, 1957. First elected to the House of Commons, as member for Westmorland, at the G.E. of March 31st, 1959. He sat as member until the dissolution of Parliament in 1962. At. The G.E. of June 18, 1962, he was defeated.
On October 5th, 1962, he was appointed Judge of County Court of N.B. for the District comprising the counties of Restigouche, Gloucester, and Northumberland, vice J.L. Ryan (q.v.), deceased. He holds this position of the present time [ Note: these documents were prepared in the 1960s].
