Born, _____________, 1798, in Limerick, Ireland. Of Irish ancestry.
Emigrated to N.B. Studied law in the office of the Hon. William Botsford (q.v.), St. John, N.B. Was admitted to the Bar of N.B., as an Attorney Feb. 20, 1823, and as a Barrister, Feb. 17th, 1824.
Located at Bathurst, N.B. and engaged in the practice of his profession.
Married ____________, to Mrs. Lucy Morse Etter, widow of Benjamin Etter, and youngest daughter of Alphaeus Morse, Esq., Amherst, Cumberland Co., N.S. By this marriage there was a family of _______________.
First elected to the House of Assembly of N.B., as one of the members for Gloucester Co., at the G.E. of October 29th, 1830. Re-elected at the next four G.E.s of 1834, 1837, 1842, and 1846, and sat as member until the dissolution of the legislature in 1850. Defeated at the G.E. of 1850, and at a bye-election held Sept. 1851.
Re-elected at the G.E.s of 1854 and 1865. His election in 1856 was protested, and he was unseated and the seat awarded to his opponent, Patrick McNaughton (q.v.). He was re-elected at the G.E. of 1857, and sat as member until dissolution in 1861. At the G.E. of 1861 he was defeated. Also defeated at the bye-election held January, 1868, and subsequently retired from active politics.
He was subsequently appointed Registrar of Deeds and Wills for Gloucester County as well as Clerk of the Glou. County Court, which positions he held until his discease.
He died, December 14th, 1872, at Bathurst, N.B. from suffocation in a fire that destroyed his office. Buried _____________.
Survived by his widow, who dies August 1875. They left no children.
