DYSART, Langton Cutler (1898 – 1956)

Born, November 25th, 1898, at Cocagne, Kent County, N.B.  Of Irish ancestry.  Son of Albert James Dysart, and his wife, Susan Hannigan.

Educated at the Cocagne Public School.

Located at Irishtown, N.B.  Was employed by the C.N.R. as a machinist, retiring in 1953.  Was Chairman of the Machinist’s Union for the Atlantic Region, C.N.R.  Was a member of the Westmorland County School Finance Board.  Was well known in local horse-racing circles.  Was a member of the St. Laurence Parish Church, and the Holy Name Society.

Married, February 25th, 1924, to Miss Pauline Blanchard, daughter of  ________ Blanchard, Esq., Contractor, Bathurst, N.B.  By this marriage there was a family of five sons and two daughters.

First elected to the House of Assembly of N.B. as one of the members for Westmorland County, at the G.E. of August 28th, 1944, and sat that Legislature.  Re-elected at the G.E. of June 28th, 1948, and sat as a member until the dissolution of the Legislature in 1952, when he retired from active politics.

He died, December 8th, 1956, at his residence, Irishtown, N.B., after a long illness, aged fifty-eight years.  Survived by his five sons and two daughters.  Buried in the St. Laurence Parish Church Cemetery, Irishtown, N.B.

His wife pre-deceased him, dying May 17th, 1947.
