DAVIDSON, Allan Alex (Jr.) (1857 – 1934)

Born, _________, 1857, at Newcastle, N.B. of Scottish-Irish ancestry.  Son of Ian A. Davidson (q.v.), and his wife, Mary Travis.  (Great grandson of William Davidson and his wife Sarah Nevers (q.v.)

Educated at the Common School; Harkins Academy, Newcastle, N.B. and the Univ. of N.B.  Studied law and was admitted to the Bar of N.B. as an Attorney, June 22, 1880, and as Barrister, April 25, 1991.

Located at Newcastle, N.B. and engaged in the practice of his profession.  Created a Kings Counsel.  Was a prominent member of the Highland Society, and the A.F. & A.M.

Unmarried.

First elected to the House of Assembly, as one of the members for North. Co., at a Bye-election held July 30, 1896, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the sitting member, Mr. James Robinson (q.v.).  He sat the remainder of that Legislature until its dissolution in 1899.  He declined re-nomination and retired from active politics.

In 1917, he was appointed a Judge of Probate, and also held the positions of Solicitor for the Town of Newcastle, and Clerk of the County Court.

He died, April 13^th, 1934, in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal, P.Q., aged seventy-six years.  Buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Newcastle, N.B.
